Great news! Now you don’t have to speak Chinese to get a world class education at the Panama City Renaissance School.

Beginning in the fall of 2009, the school will be offering an advanced academic track in English for first – 6th grade children. Students in the English language program will study advanced math, science, history and language arts as well as having daily exposure to Spanish and Chinese. Also, the school will be holding an open house on Saturday, February 7 from 2-4 pm at the Panama City Renaissance School campus at 1608 Baker Court in Panama City. As part of the international curriculum at the Panama City Renaissance School, students participated in Chinese New Year activities at the school yesterday. In addition, to greeting everyone with “Happy New Year”, the kids are made Chinese crafts, ate Chinese food and received Chinese lanterns.

Chinese New Year or Spring Festival is the most important of the traditional Chinese holidays. It is often called the Lunar New Year, especially by people in mainland China and Taiwan. The festival traditionally begins on the first day of the first lunar month. Yesterday, January 26, was the first day of Chinese New Year.
